Why do we exist, and why are we conscious?

Over half the planet claims to believe this.

Nobody has yet come up with a workable answer to either question.

*Seriously, check out the Webb photos and and realize that the awesome power that created all that gets sad when you masturbate.

I’m wondering about attachment and transference with the therapist and the idea of escape and fantasy? How much do you think your strong feelings, constant thoughts, desires to be with your therapist are a way to escape from your present life? I wonder if the transference serves another purpose than to show us our wounds and/or past experiences, but is a present coping strategy for managing what we don’t want to face (even if unconsciously) in the present—-current relationships, life circumstances, etc. Can anyone relate to this concept of escape in relation to their therapy relationship? How does this play out for you?

Over half the people on the planet are nominal members of the Yahweh/Jehovah/Allah cult, and their answer is that an eternal, but deeply insecure, deity, got lonely, and created us to keep it company. And that for some reason, despite being the creator of everything there is*, it needs for us to praise it. But in its first shot at creating us, it did such a lousy job that it found us annoying, and killed all of us off right down to one family, and started all over again. It doesn’t seem to have gone any better, this time. Almost half the planet still isn’t buying it. But it promised not to drown us all again, so there’s that.
